Pop sensation Lady Gaga has been unveiled as the new face of Versace.Sporting poker-straight, waist-length platinum blonde hair parted down the middle, the singer channels the Italian fashion house's creative director Donatella Versace as she poses for the new campaign.
The image, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, is emblazoned with 'Lady Gaga For Versace' and the hashtag #VersaceLovesGaga. "I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign," said Donatella. "I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA."Speculation of a collaboration started a few months back but Lady Gaga and Donatella have been friends for some time.
The singer's latest album features a track called Donatella, a song dedicated to her friend. "Donatella is my love letter to Donatella [Versace]," Lady Gaga told JustJared.
"The song is an incredible crazy fun pop song with really raising electronic beats that I did with [producer] Zedd. "It's about being a fearless female and not caring what people say about you – being proud of who you are and walking the walk no matter what."
Versace responded to Lady Gaga's kind comments. "I would like to thank Gaga for her geniality, creativity, incredible talent and super bitchiness," she wrote in an email to the American website.
"I am honoured to be her friend and of course I love the song!"Donatella was also responsible for giving her world tour a fashionable overhaul. "THE BORN THIS WAY BALL is getting a face-lift for America," Lady Gaga tweeted. "I heard rumors @VERSACE IS CUSTOM DESIGNING ALL THE CLOTHES AND NEW LOOKS ."
