The tiara that Victoria Beckham wore on her wedding day is set to fetch up to £25,000 when it goes under the hammer on Thursday. The stunning gold and diamond headpiece topped off her fairytale look as she married her footballer love David in July 1999.The item's designer Slim Barrett said his inspiration for the coronet-style headpiece came from his love of Eastern design and Parisian haute couture.
He combined the two to create Victoria's tiara, which is made from 18-carat gold, set with large brilliant-cut diamonds and suspended diamond drops. He called it 'East of Paris'.Victoria commissioned the tiara for her wedding but it was then kept by Slim and he is now selling it as part of Bonhams' auction of fine jewellery in New Bond Street, London.
Experts have estimated that the piece, which was exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in their 100 Tiaras, Past and Present show, will sell for between £18,000 and £25,000.
Other items in the auction lot include forty pieces from the collection of author Barbara Taylor Bradford — one of the most precious is a single stone diamond ring that is expected to reach between £330,000 and £430,000.David and Victoria, famously dubbed 'Posh and Becks', married on 4 July 1999, after dating for two years.
The couple, who met at a charity football match, were engaged after a year together and tied the knot at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland.
At the lavish ceremony the duo's 4-month-old son Brooklyn took the role of ring bearer while David's Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville was the best man.
Slim is a well-known jewellery designer and has collaborated with high-profile names including Chanel, Versace and John Galliano. He has also designed pieces for Sir Mick Jagger and Diana, Princess of Wales.
