Star Trek actor Chris Pine has been announced as the face of the spring campaign for Giorgio Armani’s fragrance Armani Code.

“Chris perfectly embodies the brand’s spirit with his strong charisma and natural elegance,” Giorgio Armani said in a statement. “Besides revealing great talent, high versatility and the right amount of irony on set, his magnetic charm makes him the ideal match for this fragrance.”

The ad shows the handsome actor giving the camera a smouldering look, dressed in a crisp white shirt and black tie.

The 33-year-old follows in the footsteps of stars such as David Beckham, Rafael Nadal and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have all fronted campaigns for the brand’s scents.

While Megan Fox is currently the face of the scent’s female equivalent, it will be the first time that Armani use a non-Italian model to front Armani Code, which Giorgio has previously described as “a sexy fragrance blend for the contemporary man in the know.”

Talking about fashion, the hunky actor knows exactly what he likes. “I’m into RRL, Ralph Lauren’s vintage-inspired line,” he said. “I love his jeans because I like that thick denim.

Thom Browne makes a good shirt I like. I try to ‘venture out’ with shoes, I’m older now, so I think I need to get a good pair of boots, but inevitable I go right back to Converse Chuck Taylors. You can’t beat them.

”Amidst the increasing media frenzy, Chris has admitted that he likes to take a step back and relax, adding that he enjoys working out at the gym because he feels it’s “therapy”.

“It’s very easy to be swept up,” he said about Hollywood. “To take the ride, which is fun. But I also like to shut down for a minute, to breathe and be like, ‘Okay, so what’s next?’”
