The unspeakable happened at the Valentino show on Tuesday – fashion's queen bee Anna Wintour was spotted sitting second row. The fashion-show goers were shocked to see the US Vogue editor seated behind her colleagues Grace Coddington, Tonne Goodman and Teen Vogue's Amy Astley.

Anna is said to have moved back after seating became too crowded on the front row, according to the Wall Street Journal's Christina Binkley, who shared the above snap on Instagram. Fashion blogger @bryanboy also tweeted about the incident, writing: "Anna Wintour: badass. Tight seating at Valentino, not enough space on the front row so she let her Editors sit front while she sat second. PR folks asked her to move to front and she didn't budge. Respect. "The collection was based heavily on pop art, in homage to Italian artist Giosetta Fioroni, whose Rome exhibition the new creative directors of Valentino Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli visited last year.

"She expressed this idea of Italian pop in the 1960s," Pierpalo said. "It was much more sensitive than American, where pop was always close to an object like Coca-Cola. "Red, white and black baubles adorned tight-fitting jumpers, A-line dresses and long trench coats, while minidresses in the same colours added a block element to the presentation. Flowing kaftan-style dresses came in more muted colours of khaki, dusky pink and gunmetal grey. Another section was dedicated to beautiful, feminine-cut dresses baring painterly floral motifs. Valentino Garavani was spotting crying as he embraced the two designers who took over the Valentino brand.
