Japenese clothing company Uniqlo has announced Pharrell Williams as their collaborator and spokesperson for their new 2014 UT T-shirt line.
The 40-year-old superstar has teamed up with the fashion retailer to design his own range, including T-shirts and caps for both men and women, which will go on sale next month.
On Thursday the company offered a sneak peak at the collection, by releasing pictures of Pharrell wearing his "think other" T-shirt. The $19.90 t-shirt is a limited-edition product which will only be sold through the company’s website from 21 March.
A week later the collection will be officially unveiled in the company’s flagship store in New York. Uniqlo is working with the SPRZ NY (Surprise New York) project and the city’s Museum of Modern Art to transform the shop and display all the pieces from the line in a unique and innovative way.
Uniqlo claim this line is distinctive because of its use of hardier cotton and seamless sides, as well as imaginative and eye-catching graphics. Following the grand unveiling, the collection will be available in shops in 14 countries around the world, as well as online.
A television campaign will accompany the collection and will feature the singer and tracks taken from his latest album G I R L. The collection couldn’t be released at a better time for the star that seems to be on top of his game at the moment following an Oscar nomination for his song Happy and killer performance at the film awards ceremony.
