Victoria Beckham has established herself as a major player in the fashion world. She has garnered a host of stylish celebrity fans, enjoyed huge success with her latest fashion show and is on the cusp of opening her first London store.
But not everyone is as enamoured with the former Spice Girl.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana this week shared their opinions on Victoria at the V&A's Glamour of Italian Fashion event.
"She's a good friend. She made a good job, but… for us, she don't make the same way like a fashion designer," Stefano said. "She became after many, many, many different things. She's a designer, but…
"Then asked if the designing duo admired Victoria's work, he struggled to reply. "She a fashion designer, but it's another… it's different. John Galliano is a designer… Alexander McQueen."
His partner commented that the mum-of-four was more akin to high street chains Zara and H&M, adding that Italian fashion and British fashion were "completely different".Their critique will no doubt come as a blow to Victoria who has previously said she wants to build a fashion business that will "stand the test of time" and not be a "flash in the pan".
The Glamour of Italian Fashion exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum is showcasing designs from the 1940s through to the modern day, with labels including Giorgio Armani, Valentine, Gucci, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. It runs from 5 April until 27 July.
