Dutch supermodel Lara Stone has admitted that being pregnant stopped her from getting modelling work. The star was under three months pregnant with her first child Alfred when she was turned away by a client who thought she had already gained too much weight. "I was really upset at the time," Lara told The Evening Standard. "I hadn't yet had my three-month scan and I felt really vulnerable about everything.

"I no longer had a job. That was it – I had to just stop everything that I knew; the way my life was." Revealing that she was "in maternity jeans from 11 weeks", Lara described how tough it was to get back into shape after her son's birth. "Once the baby was out, I was like, 'What the hell is going on?' My arms don't fit into my sweaters. I couldn't get my jeans over my knees, I couldn't find a bra that fitted me," she said. "I had body dysmorphia but the wrong way round."

Lara is married to Brit funnyman David Walliams. The couple welcomed Alfred into the world in May of last year. David announced his wife's pregnancy on his Twitter page, writing, "Some wonderful news. My beautiful wife Lara is pregnant. We are having a baby! It is due next year and we both couldn't be happier. Dx." David, 41, and Lara started dating in September 2009 and got married in May 2010. Last year, Stone revealed she and her husband had been preparing for parenthood by caring for their pet dog Bert. Speaking about their beloved mutt, she jokingly said, "We love him. A baby will probably never be as fun as Bert!"
