Just don’t forget the milk

Supermarkets have never been so chic – just pop to your local shop and you’ll be flawed by the fashion nestling between your weekly sundries. Fashion insiders have long been championing supermarket style; partly due to the convenience of picking up a cheeky leopard print dress or pair of side-stripe trousers when popping in for a pint of milk but mainly because of the trend-led pieces on offer – which are easy on the purse strings too. Don’t believe us? We’ve scoured the shelves for the best celebrity-inspired pieces on offer that’ll blow any BOGOF offer off the shop floor.

The classic roll neck - £9.99, Aldi

A classic navy roll-neck will see you through autumn and winter; wear with palazzo trousers or tucked into mom-style jeans and layer necklaces over the top.

You can also team it with a pleated or midi skirt, a la Victoria Beckham - it works especially well when the skirt is silk so you mix the materials.

The PVC mini skirt - £28, Tu @ Sainsbury's

Every wardrobe needs a leather-esque mini skirt, especially in the winter - worn with tights and a jumper, it's a seriously sexy look.

Millie Mackintosh loves hers, and shows us how amazing it looks with a blouse too; for a more casual get-up, add a slogan tee or a slouchy sweatshirt.

The sequin skirt - £40, F&F at Tesco

We didn’t think we could want a sequin skirt more than when Holly Willoughby wore one from Anthropologie on This Morning last December.

It’s the perfect piece to see you through the festive season, whatever the occasion and this F&F version is spot on; office drinks? Add a simple tee or crew neck knit. Hitting the bar with friends? Go for a slinky cami with those sequins.

The black and white polka dot dress - £18, George at ASDA

Remember when we all rushed to find a copy of Duchess Kate’s polka dot Dolce & Gabbana dress last year? She was ahead of the curve in hers, and they’re now all over the high street.

You can’t beat the classic combo of black and white, and the neck drape of this George at ASDA dress is an unexpected twist.

The floral midi dress - £25, Tu at Sainsbury’s

Don’t think florals are for you? Pop a pair of plimsolls with this fancy number and you’ll think differently, trust us - it’s the Insta-trend of the moment.

Or copy Christine Lampard, who wears hers with a slim nude heel. The green tones on this Tu at Sainsbury’s piece give the floral feel a botanical update.

The white shirt - £18, F&F Tesco

A white shirt seamslessly transitions from smart workwear to casual Saturday garb – if you don’t have one in your arsenal, get onto it pronto with this easy-to-wear F&F blouse.

Learn from Duchess Meghan who has relied on a classic white button-up and jeans for cheering from the sidelines at the Invictus Games in Toronto (her Misha Nonoo blouse promptly sold out) to wearing one with a slim fit tailored suit to a black tie event. See? Versatile.

The denim boiler suit - £20, Tu at Sainsbury’s

No longer the wear of mechanics and Charlene from Neighbours, boiler suits are the new jumpsuit – just ask the perennially cool Jeane Damas.

Why do we love them? They’re ridiculously easy to wear, that throw-on outfit that’s immediately stylish come rain or shine. Pick up this one from Tu at Sainsbury’s to dip your toe into the trend.

The slogan tee - £12, George at ASDA

Slogan tees are going nowhere and the likes of Laura Whitmore, Michelle Keegan and Gigi Hadid are often seen sporting one.

This one from George at ASDA gives us all the feels with its simple but sweet message. Talk about wearing your heart on your sleeve.

The furry heels – £14, Matalan

Furry slides might just be summer’s silliest but most brilliant essential, and take that sense of humour into autumn with your heels. Marabou trimmed shoes teeter on the edge of perfection for cocktail hour – Olivia Palermo, Kim Kardashian and Pixie Lott are all fuzzy fans.

You don’t need to spend loads to give this look a go – pop to Matalan for this nude pink pair.

The teddy coat - £35, F&F at Tesco

Winter is on the horizon so it’s time to think about that elusive coat – you won’t go far wrong with a cosy as anything teddy coat, as seen on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

If you’re a little scared of the textured trend, pick one in brown, like this from F+F or black; if you want to brighten up your AW wardrobe, pick a brighter hue like red, green or yellow.

The white boots - £12.50, George at ASDA

It’s not that long ago that we were still on the fence about a pair of white boots, but after a stream of celebs wore them, including Sienna Miller, we’re definitely team white boot.

Wear this cute pair from George at ASDA now with skirts and bare legs and jeans and an oversized knit come autumn.
