As Lady Gaga carefully strolled out onto the steps of the U.S. Capitol, it was clear that she did not come to play when it came to choosing an inauguration look that made a major style statement - and sent a message of peace.

The Shallow songstress looked regal as she sang the National Anthem into a gold microphone in a dress that had a sleek black bodice topped with a giant gold dove of peace, and a billowy red skirt. She also wore black Cornelia James Elodie long leather gloves.

Gaga completed her look with a black and blonde braided hairpiece tied with a ribbon over her blonde locks, which were tucked back into a bun. She even brought her own special accessory - a gold microphone that matched her pin. "Props to Lady Gaga for using a gold mic to match her other accessories, your fave could never," one fan tweeted.

"#LadyGaga absolute legend, fabulous dress #doveofpeace, gold mic, and matching earbuds," another wrote, while someone else chimed in, "it was Lady Gaga bringing her own gold mic for me." The Oscar winner’s style choice was new age Gaga - over the top and edgy, but also high-fashion glam, and it reminded some inauguration watchers of The Hunger Games

“Lady Gaga looks like she’s in the Hunger Games. Is that a Mockingjay pin on her dress,” one person wrote. “Congrats to Lady Gaga’s dress on its success in the Hunger Games,” another wrote

If you’re going to serve a Hunger Games-esque look though, quite frankly this is how you serve it.

After Gaga sang the National Anthem, she graciously greeted President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris with a smile, picked up her dress, and walked to her seat.

“Singing our National Anthem for the American People is my honor,” Gaga tweeted Wednesday. “I will sing during a ceremony, a transition, a moment of change—between POTUS 45 and 46. For me, this has great meaning.”

“My intention is to acknowledge our past, be healing for our present, and passionate for a future where we work together lovingly,” she continued. “I will sing to the hearts of all people who live on this land. Respectfully and kindly, Lady Gaga.”

The songstress arrived in Washington, DC Tuesday ahead of the inauguration. After touring the United States Capitol, she shared a breathtaking snap of herself standing inside.
