Malia Obama left the comfort of the Californian sunshine behind her for a trip to the Big Apple recently - and she did it in style.
The former student has been living in Los Angeles where she is pursuing a profession as a screenwriter, while her sister, Sasha, continues her studies at USC.

But, the draw of New York pulled her back for a visit where photos posted on PageSix show her reunited with her reported boyfriend, Dawit Eklund.

While Malia and the record producer - who were spotted spending time together in LA recently - kept a distance, they appeared to have chemistry as they smiled at one another while both keeping their arms firmly crossed.
Malia turned heads with her waist-length braids and covered up in an oversized, denim shirt and baggy, white pants. She looked cool and casual in dark sunglasses as the pair took a stroll through the busy streets of NY.

Malia was hired earlier this year to work as a writer on Donald Glover's Amazon series, giving her career a serious boost following her graduation from Harvard.
Malia took a break from her life in Los Angeles where she lives with her sister Sasha
The oldest of Barack and Michelle Obama's children moved to California last year after receiving her degree and her sister didn't wait too much longer to join her there.
The young women both relocated and are now living in Brentwood near the campus where Sasha is a student.

Michelle previously opened up about the feeling of her and Barack being empty-nesters to Ellen DeGeneres, and while she misses her children she said they're "doing well," and have also become, "just amazing young women".

She joked about their love lives and added: "They loved the Jonas Brothers. Now they are bringing grown men home. Before it was just, like, pop bands. Now they have boyfriends and real lives."
She added some words of advice her own mother gave her: "She said, 'I'm not raising babies, I'm raising real people to be out in the world.' And I kept that in mind with the girls."
