Katie Holmes recently broke her silence regarding her Jingle Ball 2022 outfit that went viral for its throwback to the early 2000s.
The actress attended the iHeartRadio Z100’s Jingle Ball 2022 Presented by Capital One at Madison Square Garden on December 9 in New York wearing a mini dress layered over jeans from Tove's SS23 collection, paired with sneakers.
While many criticized the look, the mom-of-one herself remains unbothered and even proud of her fashion choice.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the star explained that her outfit was perfect for the event, as she was looking forward to dancing with her nephews.
"I threw my sneakers on and I thought I looked cool. I felt cool, I felt great, and then I woke up the next morning and I was like, 'Oh my gosh,'" she shared.
Despite the buzz surrounding her attire, Holmes doesn't understand why it became such a big deal, emphasizing that she simply wanted to have fun.
After the public backlash, the actress's stylist, Brie Welch, came forward to defend Katie’s outfit.

In an email to the New York Times, Brie revealed that the team chose the rich-colored mini dress with a subtle bustier effect, thinking it would be fun when paired with jeans.
The goal was to create a youthful feel appropriate for the Jingle Ball atmosphere.
Regarding the choice of New Balance sneakers, the fashion pro credited Katie's personal style, explaining that the actress wanted to wear comfortable shoes for a night of dancing to Dua Lipa.
"On the day of (and because Katie has her own effortless style that should be appreciated here), she said she wanted to wear sneakers because it was a concert and obviously there would be a lot of dancing," Brie stated.
The New York-based stylist and creative consultant further praised Holmes for her ability to pull off the retro trend, saying the star is "more than capable of looking cool in an unintentional trend 20 years later."
