Princess Diana and Prince Charles' wedding was the event of the decade when they wed in 1981 – but it was her post-divorce outfits that had everyone talking. Her once conservative style was amped up to the max: out went the long skirts and buttoned-up dresses and in came jeans, shorter hemlines and that black dress, dubbed the 'revenge dress'. She wore the black plunging Christina Stambolian dress to a Serpentine Gallery summer party in 1994 – the very same evening a documentary aired in which Prince Charles admitted to his affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles.

But that wasn't her only style triumph post-heartbreak and now you can follow an Instagram account that chronicles some of Lady Di's most brilliant post-Charles looks, with equally witty captions to fuel your obsession. @ladydirevengelooks promises "Lady Di's sassiest post-divorce looks" and has found some lesser-known gems like her nautical-yacht look, oversized DKNY tee outfit and casual blazer with jeans ensemble, complete with her signature Gucci Bamboo handbag.

One of our favourite looks is a white mini Versace dress, worn to a charity concert in Italy and captioned "The Versace revenge look" but there's plenty of casual get-ups from cycling shorts and oversized sweatshirts to bikinis and an amazing leopard print kaftan with matching swimsuit too.

Princess Diana has long been lauded as a style icon for being ahead of her time with her satin chokers, one-shouldered gowns and even wearing trainers. She was also the queen of recycling her outfits, with one, a green wool suit made by Victor Edelstein, being worn 12 times to various events throughout the 80s. Her style is also said to have influenced younger royals like the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex, whos tuxedo dress worn to a charity performance of Hamilton last week mirrored an outfit of Princess Diana's, worn in 1996.
