Queen Maxima sported a stunning new custom gown and some historic jewels as she attended a state banquet to welcome French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron to the Netherlands on Tuesday evening.
The monarch welcomed the French first couple to the Royal Palace wearing a beautiful red gown from her favourite designer Claes Iverson, which featured statement puff sleeves and a flattering off-shoulder neckline.
The fashion house confirmed that designer Claes had made the dress himself, sharing a sketch of the dress on Instagram with the caption: "Meet Princess Amore. Fun fact: Claes always makes one dress per collection himself. From this collection he chose this dress. With help and support from the team!"
As is tradition for royal state banquets, Queen Maxima added a beautiful tiara from her family's collection – choosing one of her go-to headpieces, the Antique Pearl Tiara.

Made in 1900, the striking tiara is set with pear-shaped pearls that date back to the 1700s. It is no doubt very special to Maxima, since it is the very first tiara she ever wore. She stepped out wearing the diamond base of the tiara – without the statement pearls – to the wedding of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway in 2001, before she married the then-Prince of Orange in 2002 and became a Princess herself.
It has not yet been confirmed if Queen Maxima will be attending the upcoming coronation of King Charles in the UK, though a number of the world's royal families will be present.
