Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise was showing no signs of strain over his divorce from Nicole Kidman when he showed up for a TV appearance on Saturday night and ended up being doused in green slime. The Mission Impossible star just took it all in his stride, flashing his famous toothy grin even as the gunge rained down on his handsome head.
He was appearing on the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, known as the children’s Oscars, where he received an award for being children’s favourite role model. And when actress Rosie O’Donnell fooled him into pressing the gunge button, Tom showed what a good role model he is by joining in the laughter without a second’s hesitation.
Accepting his award, he said, “There are two things my mother instilled in me when I was growing up – work hard and be kind to others.”
The evening brought further surprises in the shape of a belching contest which was won by Cameron Diaz. She pitted her skills against Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Rowland (from Destiny’s Child) and Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys. The turn brought only shocked silence from the audience at first, but they soon got into the swing of it, and cheered Cameron when she took her award saying, “This is one of my proudest moments.”
