Traffic stunner Catherine Zeta-Jones is now mourning the loss of her beloved grandmother, Kathleen Fair, who died on Saturday aged 85 at her three-bedroom council home in Swansea. Catherine and husband Michael Douglas are expected in south Wales next week to pay their last respects and are said to be concerned that crowds may disturb the private, solemn affair.
Catherine, named after grandmothers Kathleen and Zeta, kept in close contact with her late grandmother who flew to New York last year for the 31-year-old’s star-studded wedding, calling the trip the “experience of a lifetime”. The two last saw each other eight months ago when the Welsh actress brought son Dylan across the Atlantic for a visit.
“She was a lovely, lovely lady who was very proud of Catherine,” says a friend of the late Kathleen Fair. “Everyone here liked her very much.”
“She doted on her family but never was a show-off about Catherine’s success,” says neighbour Olive Ace.
Catherine’s grandfather Billy Fair, a retired postman, died last April. Catherine’s father Dai and mother Pat still live in Swansea alongside the Hollywood beauty’s paternal grandmother, Zeta, aged 86.
