Oscar-winner Russell Crowe has invited his ex-girlfriend, Danielle Spencer, to be his support act when he goes on tour with his rock group 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts. The Gladiator star, who has recently returned from a break in the exclusive Wayaka resort in Fiji where he met up with Nicole Kidman, will take old flame Danielle on his tour bus as the Australian group plays dates across the US.

It appears that former Home And Away actress Danielle will perform a solo singing spot for the first hour of every show before Russell’s band takes to the stage.

The hunky Antipodean star met pretty blonde Danielle in 1990 during the filming of the Australian drama, The Crossing. They were together for five years but Danielle called a halt to the relationship just before Russell started to become famous. Despite constant rumours that the pair might get back together again – Danielle accompanied the LA Confidential actor to this year’s Oscar ceremony – the singer and actress has claimed that the two are “just good friends.”

In a special interview for HELLO! this year Danielle spoke of her special relationship with Russell and played down the actor’s womanising reputation. “He is gentle and kind and very caring,” she explained.

Russell is currently putting the finishing touches to his latest film, A Beautiful Mind, which also stars Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly.
