Newly-engaged actress Andie MacDowell showed up hand-in-hand with her new fiancé at her latest movie screening in Charlotte this week – and came face-to-face with one of her old flames. The Four Weddings And A Funeral star is said to have had a fling with Dennis Quaid, her co-star in the new release Dinner With Friends, after their marriages ended last year.
But there was no embarrassment because the two, who were spotted canoodling on the set of the HBO film, which airs on August 11, have since found new partners – Andie is to marry high school friend Rhett Hartzog, and Dennis is stepping out with actress Shana Moakler, whom he met six months ago at the Latin Lounge in L.A. Previously, Andie was married to former male model Paul Qualley; Dennis, of course, had a high profile break-up with Meg Ryan after she fell for Russell Crowe. But Dennis had better watch out – Shana’s ex, with whom she has a daughter, is none other than boxer Oscar De La Hoya.
Also at the premiere, held at the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, was co-star Greg Kinnear, but Toni Collette, who completes the film’s main cast list, was away filming in her native Australia. Profits from the premiere which, it was hoped, would reach $500,000, were going to Andie’s Camps for Kids, the model-turned-actress’ charity which caters for children dealing with cancer, diabetes or asthma. “I’m reminded how important it is every time I see kids in need,” said the pretty brunette.
Two days previously, the stars had shown up at the Hamptons town of Southampton for a screening, where Dennis and Greg knuckled down to a game of golf with 60 Minutes star Steve Kroft. “It was a very competitive match,” said the TV presenter. “Nobody lost any money.”
