Her divorce doesn’t go through until August 8, but Nicole Kidman showed up at the New York premiere of her new film, The Others, with a glint in her eye and diamonds at her throat. Wearing a chiffon dress over matching trousers, her tawny mane piled high on her head, the Australian actress, who is still finalising her alimony settlement with Tom Cruise, worked the crowd like an old pro.
There was speculation that the estranged couple would meet up face-to-face at the premiere of the sci-fi chiller movie, in which Nicole plays an English mother of two children who is also a bit of a control freak. Tom, who is currently dating Penelope Cruz and acted as executive producer on the film, announced that he would not hit the Big Apple but would attend the L.A. premiere next Tuesday instead.
Other celebrities at the first night included actor Ethan Hawke and his brother Matthew, fashionista Diane von Furstenberg and her beau, media tycoon Barry Diller.
