Just months after it was announced that her relationship with Benjamin Bratt had hit the dust, there are signs that Julia Roberts has met someone new. The American actress, probably the most powerful woman in Hollywood, has been linked with cameraman Daniel Moder, the son of a Hollywood producer.
With the rumours gathering pace, the two were spotted at the same hotel yesterday. Julia, 33, dressed in a pair of low-slung jeans and sunglasses, strolled out of the Bel-Air Hotel separately from Daniel, who left a few minutes later. But the queen of Tinseltown’s new relationship is a controversial one: Daniel is married.
His estranged wife, Vera, 28, is said to be devastated after Daniel, four years her senior, walked out on her recently. And there is a further twist: Daniel’s mother Patricia died of a heart attack last week and both of the women in his life are said to be going to the funeral.
“Vera is very close to the family,” a Hollywood source said last night, “but Julia is determined to be there for Dan. I’m sure the two love rivals will keep the peace for the sake of the family, but Vera has no love for Julia breaking up their marriage and she may well let Julia have it.”
It is thought that Dan’s 56-year-old mother died just after she discovered that her son was seeing Julia. “He is distraught over his mother’s death,” continued the source. “He cannot help thinking that the fuss over his affair with Julia may have contributed to this. He is inconsolable.”
Julia has reportedly offered to attend the funeral and has even volunteered to pay for security guards at the service, having told her new companion that she will be there for him if he wants her to be.
