SYLVESTER STALLONE AT WORK ON A FOURTH 'RAMBO' FILM

Eighties screen hero Sylvester Stallone is reportedly working on a fourth instalment of his Rambo franchise, despite Hollywood’s distaste for war films since the September 11 attacks. And while the Rocky champ has previously denied plans for another Rambo, insiders say he now thinks patriotic American audiences would queue up for a nostalgic action fest.

“Sylvester Stallone has an idea for a new Rambo movie,” reports his publicist, Paul Bloch. “But he hasn’t written it yet.”

The 55-year-old actor – Oscar-nominated for penning the first Rocky picture – is said to be at work on the script in his Miami home. The green beret-sporting hero John Rambo would reportedly take on the Taliban in the proposed film, skydiving into Afghanistan to challenge terrorism.

Despite Sly’s renewed interest in the project, he previously denied plans to don his familiar garb. “I don’t know if I’d look good in a thong anymore,” he said earlier this year. “In my fantasies, I’d love to do one more, but I don’t think it would be in good taste at my age.”

Executives at Miramax Films, however, disagreed and were behind the film during March discussions. “We’d love nothing more than for Stallone to be involved,” said Miramax honcho Bob Weinstein. We think it’s a billion-dollar property.”

Rambo first hit screens in 1982 in First Blood. Between the action series and the five Rocky films, Sylvester is responsible for $2 billion in box office receipts.
