Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz, Hollywood’s hottest couple, strolled up the red carpet hand in hand at the world premiere of their new thriller, Vanilla Sky, at Mann’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday night. A plethora of famous faces were also on hand to celebrate the film’s debut, including co-star Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas and his actress wife Melanie Griffith.
"I'm so proud of this film,” said Tom of the movie, a remake of The Others director Alejandro Amenabar’s Open Your Eyes. “I'm so proud of what we all did, everybody put a lot into it. It's a very special picture."
Cruise and Cruz – who first met on the set of Vanilla Sky – seemed entirely at ease at the glittering event, smiling and waving to the crowds of fans and photographers. The Mission Impossible star chose to dress down, sporting a black jacket, white shirt and jeans, while Penelope looked every bit the glamorous film star, radiant in a Spanish-influenced Ralph Lauren gown. The one-shouldered frock wasn’t much to protect Penelope from the night air though, and Tom chivalrously shed his jacket and wrapped it around her.
Gorgeous Cameron Diaz, who plays the third party of the film’s love triangle, greeted the paparazzi wearing flower-embroidered sparkling trousers and a midriff-baring shirt topped with a velvet jacket and funky flat cap. Director Cameron Crowe was also on hand to celebrate the film's opening, accompanied by his wife, musician Nancy Wilson. Other famous faces at the premiere included Sting’s wife Trudie Styler and actor Christian Slater, who starred with Tom and Antonio Banderas in Interview With A Vampire.
Vanilla Sky opens across the US on December 14 and will hit UK screens on January 25.
