Comic Tom Green made Razzie Award history on Saturday, becoming the first star ever to pick up a worst actor gong in person at the prize show spoof, which annually “dishonours” the year’s worst achievements in film. Glitter diva Mariah Carey, however, was not on hand to take home the $5 gold spray-painted gong when she was named worst actress of the year at Tinseltown’s anti-Oscars.

Mariah swept the category with her big screen debut in the urban take on A Star Is Born, easily beating out fellow worst actress nominees Penelope Cruz, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez. “If I was gun-shy I’d be home hiding under the covers,” said the singer-turned-actress after critics panned the film back in January. “I’m a fighter.” And fearless Mariah will soon be back on the silver screen, with mafia flick Wisegirls.

Freddy Got Fingered, called “the worst movie ever released by a major studio in Hollywood history” by CNN, was the biggest “winner” at the parody show. The film, starring Drew Barrymore’s estranged hubby Tom Green, scooped five gongs, including worst film of the year and worst actor for the edgy comic. “When we set out to make this film we wanted to win a Razzie, so this is a dream come true for me,” said Tom.

The tuxedo-clad comedian brought his own red carpet to the event, rolling out the floor covering before strolling up it for his grand entrance. “I wore this tuxedo at my wedding, so that give you an indication of how much this means to me,” said Tom, who filed for divorce from wife Drew last December.

The Razzie awards, held the day before the Oscars since 1980, are decided by 520 Golden Rasberry Award Foundation members, including film critics and moviegoers.
