She lives in Los Angeles and has a home in Madrid, and now, according to a US daily, hot Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has bought herself a new pad in New York. Captivated by the skyscraper capital Pen has apparently invested in a $1.6 million, three-bedroom apartment in the city central district of Chelsea in Manhattan. The city presumably has a special place in the heart of the Captain Corelli’s Mandolin star as it was where she first met her current beau, Tom Cruise. The pair fell in love while making Vanilla Sky there. Pen, who lived in a rented apartment during filming, is no newcomer to New York, however. She previously spent four years in the Big Apple studying drama at a Manhattan college. \n \n But it is unlikely that the new purchase will become her permanent home, as the actress has chosen to remain based in Europe.
