Glamorous actress Catherine Zeta-Jones made her name on the British TV show The Darling Buds Of May. But fame at home wasn’t enough. The young actress decided to take on the world and headed for Tinseltown, where her extreme savvy and good looks have turned her into a worldwide star. In 2000 she married Hollywood heavyweight Michael Douglas and the couple had baby son Dylan the same year. And she recently became the face of prestigious make-up firm Elizabeth Arden.
Just how does a lass from Swansea, south Wales, do it? Well, here's part of the secret – the beauty part, that is, and Catherine's tips for looking good.
HAIR:- Arguably, Catherine’s most striking feature is her flowing dark hair, which she has always worn long and glossy in the style of the divas of Hollywood’s Golden Age. She says she keeps it in good shape by making sure the ends are trimmed every six weeks. Another tip is a regular fortnightly moisturizing vapour treatment to maintain the shine. And, says the actress, remember to cosset your locks with a good conditioner or a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week.
SKIN:- With regard to skin-care, Catherine treats her decolleté with the same attention she gives to her stunning face. She regularly uses a make-up removal cream followed by a moisturizer to keep the skin smooth and elastic. And, with such an exquisite peaches and cream complexion, she's particularly wary of sun damage, relying on factor 15 sun lotion to keep her skin free from blotches and premature ageing.
EYES:- Catherine likes to emphasise the make-up around her eyes to give them a stunning stand-out look, leaving her luscious lips to speak for themselves. A touch of kohl and black-as-night mascara deepen the mystery of her look, and she favours light grey eye shadow taken up to the eyebrow in nude beige, often with a slight metallic sheen.
BODY:- As far as keeping her curvaceous body in trim, Catherine admits that, frankly, sport bores her and she doesn’t go for the muscular, toned feminine form. That’s why she steers clear of all kinds of weight and stamina exercises. Instead, her secret to maintaining that hourglass figure is music and dance. An expert tap dancer, Catherine started out in show business in musicals and readily admits that she’d like to return. But for now she keeps up the dancing to stay in shape.
STYLE:- Fashion wise, Catherine goes for the classic look and she just doesn’t do scruffy. Casual, occasionally. Like Princess Caroline of Monaco or the late Diana, Princess of Wales, she can look great in just jeans and shades, and there are shots of her looking apple-fresh in a simple summer frock. We're far more likely, though, to see the unashamedly glamorous Mrs Douglas caught on camera with her hair styled like a Fifties starlet, her ears and neck shimmering with diamonds, and her hourglass figure emphasised to the max in a Versace dress.
