Until last week Krista Allen was probably best known for her role in the hit US TV series Baywatch. But then, she was photographed out and about with one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, George Clooney, and the couple looked very much an item. Begging the question – who is this young lady who has caught the eye of one of Tinseltown’s leading men?

Krista, who turned 30 on April 5, was born in Ventura, California, but brought up in Houston, Texas. Even though her parents divorced while she was still a child, she says it had no negative effect on her upbringing and that she had a happy childhood.

Krista was a part-time model before moving into acting. At the age of 18, Krista was crowned Miss Texas and then became the new Budweiser girl in a national campaign. However, she continued her course in Nursery Care at the University of Texas, which she would only give up when Hollywood beckoned. One week after arriving in Los Angeles, Krista had already won her first role, as a bikini clad waitress in the daytime soap, The Bold And The Beautiful.

From there, Krista won the lead in the adult movie series Emmanuelle, and had memorable appearances on the hit TV series Friends and the 1997 Jim Carrey movie Liar Liar. But her career came into its own when she won a lead role in the US soap opera The Days Of Our Lives.

Apart from her acting career, Krista has always shown an altruistic drive and collaborated with a number benefit organizations related to child welfare, such as Children of the Night and The Paediatric Aids Foundation.

In 1996, the actress married the film production manager Justin Moritt and they had a son, Jacob Nolan, in July 1997. The couple divorced, however, two years later.
