Stars from dozens of NBC’s greatest programmes from I Dream Of Jeannie to Friends were on hand Sunday night for a live telecast to celebrate the American network’s 75th anniversary. Courteney Cox Arquette, Jennifer Aniston and Law & Order’s Benjamin Bratt were among the more than 200 performers brought together for the three-hour gala event, honouring stars who have lit up TV screens for generations.

Famous faces from the network’s current hits such as ER and Will And Grace joined cast members from past favourites, including Star Trek’s William Shatner, Miami Vice star Don Johnson and Cheers actor Ted Danson. The historic show was presented by members of NBC’s famous family, including Bill Cosby, Michael J Fox and Jerry Seinfeld.

Courteney Cox Arquette, casual in white, and Jennifer Aniston, wearing a floral print top and trousers, posed arm in arm on the red carpet, while newlyweds Benjamin Bratt and Talisa Soto clutched hands and smiled. Everybody’s favourite A-Teamer, Mr T, turned out in his patriotic best – a sleeveless stars and stripes ensemble accessorised with a his ever-present collection of gold chains.

Broadcast from NBC’s New York studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the one-off programme – it won’t air again and will not be available on videotape – also featured an appearance by one of the most veteran NBC actors, the star of 1950s variety show Your Show Of Shows Sid Caesar. Missing from the momentous reunion were chat show pioneer Johnny Carson and the legendary Bob Hope, who started with the network in 1933.
