Angelina Jolie and her husband Billy-Bob Thornton have finally been given the green light to return to their Hollywood home with their newly adopted Cambodian son. The American Immigration And Naturalisation Service gave the okay after reviewing the case to make sure the two-month-old Maddox was obtained legally. Now all that is required is a US visa – which is expected to be a simple formality.
The celebrity couple, who first met Maddox while visiting a Cambodian orphanage in November, took charge of their new son in March during their stay in Namibia where Angelina was filming her new movie Beyond Borders. All three have remained in the south-west African country waiting for the immigration clearance to come through. Angelina says she has enjoyed the opportunity the delay afforded them, however, to get to know Maddox. “Namibia will always be in my heart for being the first place where I lived with my son,” she revealed.
The family spent their time in Africa living in a private villa by the sea. “It was a paradise for me,” said the Oscar winning actress. “I was working in a beautiful country, living on the beach, and doing a job that I love with a healthy boy. It made me remember how privileged I am.”
Young though he is – he’s now nine-and-a-half-months-old – Maddox already seems to have something in common with his new mum: “He’s very curious and a little wild, but I like that,” says Angelina.
The couple are believed to be thinking about adopting a little sister for their son.
