Hit fantasy movie Lord Of The Rings scooped the Best Movie prize at the MTV Film Awards on Sunday and Scottish actor Ewan McGregor picked up the gong for Best Musical Sequence for Moulin Rouge. But, at the end of the day, two male actors, Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott, took the night’s juiciest prize, the Best Kiss, for their smooch in American Pie 2

Moulin Rouge star Nicole Kidman – who also won Best Female Performance for the Baz Luhrmann musical fantasy –said she was disappointed not to have won in the Kiss category. “I’m really bummed we didn’t get Best Kiss,” quipped the 34-year-old Aussie actress. “We should have rehearsed more, we needed to kiss more, Ewan.”

Lord Of The Rings beat off competition from Black Hawk Down, Legally Blonde, The Fast And The Furious and Shrek to win the Best Film Award. Kent-born Orlando Bloom also picked up the Male Breakthrough Performance accolade for his role as the elf archer Legolas.

Orlando, who could not attend the ceremony, said: “I’m flattered, the experience of working on Lord Of The Rings was life-changing. I hope you enjoy the second one.”

After missing out on an Oscar earlier this year, Will Smith was named Best Male Performance for his role as Muhammad Ali in Ali while the award for Best Villain went to Oscar-winner Denzel Washington for his role as a corrupt LA cop in Training Day

Reese Witherspoon took the award for Best Comedy Performance for Legally Blonde
