All that glitters is gold, as one can see from the spectacular gold jewellery modelled by Helena Bonham Carter as the face of this year’s Gold Virtuosi Awards. The series of photographs, taken by John Swannell over three days in Venice, were revealed during a gala ceremony in the city on Sunday night.
“Nothing can hide the fact that Helena Bonham Carter has an unmistakeable natural beauty and effervescent personality making her an ideal choice to model the winning pieces,” says a spokesman for the World Gold Council, which sponsors the awards. “Helena’s confidence and individuality complement perfectly the uniqueness and magic of the pieces she models, bringing them vividly to life.”
In these pics, shot in the 15th-century Colleoni Castle near Verona, the British actress dazzles in accessories made by two of Britain’s up-and-coming designers, Kate Warren and Simon Harrison, who were among 34 winners from 15 nations.
The pieces by the UK’s rising stars were chosen from over 5,000 design “nominees”, and were selected by a panel of experts from the worlds of fashion, jewellery and art. Initial designs were submitted as sketches, and 100 finalists brought their creations to life in gold.
