She may be the mother of a two-year-old toddler, but sultry Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones shows no signs of slowing down. Quite the contrary.
The Mark Of Zorro star and her husband Michael Douglas, 57, recently took a break in Majorca. But while the Fatal Attraction actor caught up on his golf, Catherine’s eyes were still very much focused on work and her career. In addition to her filming workload, she has just taken on two more high-profile promotional roles.
She takes over from model Amber Valetta as the new face of cosmetics firm Elizabeth Arden, with whom she has signed a four-year contract, and has also entered a deal to become the global representative of mobile phone giant T-Mobile International.
On the way back to the US, the couple stopped over in the British capital where Catherine unveiled the new Elizabeth Arden fragrance at Selfridges last Wednesday. Accompanied by her mum and looking stunning in a flame-red silk outfit which showed off her trim figure to a tee, the 32-year-old Welsh beauty laughed and joked with staff at the prestigious top London department store.
While in Britain, the Darling Buds Of May actress also took time out to celebrate Father’s Day early with her dad, Dai. Father and daughter had reservations for dinner at upmarket London eatery The Ivy, where they were joined by her mum Pat, who arrived later in a separate car. The whole family then went on to The Savoy Hotel for a nightcap.
Catherine’s enthusiasm to take on new projects may be an attempt to make hay while the sun shines and earn an extra nest egg for the future. She has made no secret of her desire for a sibling for the couple’s young son Dylan. “I’d like to try next year because Dylan is two in August, and I’d like as many as I can pop out,” she said recently. And talk of a multimillion dollar deal with a Hollywood studio – which would have meant postponing having another baby for three years – recently came to nothing.
The actress’s frenetic schedule has given rise to rumours that it may be putting a strain on the spring-autumn marriage, with 57-year-old Michael being left holding the baby while his dynamic young wife pursues her various commitments. As they prepared to jet back to the US, however, the pair were every inch the happy couple and Michael, who is not often pictured with his baby son, looked very much the doting dad as he toted a rapidly growing Dylan on his hip.
