British star Hugh Grant flew into Madrid this week and ended up doing a little bit more than just publicizing his new film, the UK hit About A Boy. After attending Tuesday’s premiere and doing his media duties, the Notting Hill actor took some time off to sample the delights of the Spanish city, which is well known as one of Europe’s party capitals.
Hugh, dressed in beige trousers and a blue shirt, started the evening in the famous local eatery De Maria, where he dined in the company of friends. On leaving the restaurant, he told reporters, with typical British reticence, Madrid’s nightlife was “very entertaining”, before moving onto a popular cocktail bar and finishing the night in Spanish style at a flamenco club.
About A Boy, which took £3.7 million on its opening weekend in the UK, tells the story of Will, a hip Londoner, whose bachelor lifestyle is turned upside down when he meets 12-year-old Marcus, played by newcomer Nicholas Hoult. The film, which is based on a Nick Hornsby novel, also stars The Mummy actress Rachel Weisz and Aussie star Toni Collette. Hugh had a hand in the script and helped on the production side, alongside movie icon Robert De Niro.
About A Boy is currently showing nationwide in both the UK and USA.
