Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart proved they are one of Tinseltown’s hottest couples on Monday, setting flashbulbs popping as they arrived holding hands at the American premiere of the action hero’s latest film, K-19: The Widowmaker.
The hunky Air Force One star, who turned 60 on Saturday, was casual in a dark suit and blue shirt open at the collar, while his Ally McBeal sweetheart donned a skirt and spaghetti-strap vest in summer white. But perhaps what garnered most attention on the red carpet were the matching smiles the two wore as they exchanged loving glances.
The superstar pair were joined at the premiere, held at Mann’s Village Theatre in Los Angeles, by K-19 co-star Liam Neeson as well as the film’s director, Kathryn Bigelow.
Harrison is famed for bringing larger-than-life icons such as Indiana Jones, Han Solo and Jack Ryan to the big screen, but he says fans should expect something different this time around. The thriller, in which he takes on a Russian accent to play the captain of a nuclear submarine edging towards disaster, “isn’t a typical Harrison Ford movie”.
“This character is not immediately sympathetic or easy,” he reveals. “It is not a movie star role with all the usual supports. So it was a different kind of challenge.”
