There was a double premiere in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night. Steven Soderbergh’s latest and eagerly awaited romantic comedy Full Frontal had its first screening, and the film’s star Julia Roberts unveiled an all-new look for the world to see. The 34-year-old actress, who was casually yet glamorously dressed in a black 1970s style top and patterned skirt, has returned to the blonde locks she first showed off at the Ocean's 11 premiere last year.
Only this time her trademark curls have been replaced by a more straightened style. Julia appeared at the premiere without her new husband, Danny Moder, who she said was too busy to attend.
When asked by the press about her recent marriage, she described Danny as “a formidable man among men”. The actress also insisted that their midnight wedding at her New Mexico ranch earlier this month had not been kept secret. “People just weren’t paying enough attention,” she said.
Also attending the screening were Julia’s co-stars David Duchovny, Blair Underwood, Catherine Keener and Mary McCormack. Among the other guests were Julia’s buddy George Clooney, model Heidi Klum and celebrity couple Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, who has a cameo in the movie.
Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh has called Full Frontal an unofficial sequel to his 1989 hit Sex, Lies And Videotapes, only none of the same characters are involved. The story is a movie within a movie which flips between a film called Rendezvous, and the lives of the actors and crew involved in making it.
Blair Underwood plays Nicholas, who’s in love with Catherine (played by Julia), who is really Francesca, who finds true love off the set. But Linda (Mary McCormack) loves Nicholas in real life. And then there’s Gus (David Duchovny), who loves himself.
Full Frontal opens in the US on August 2. A release date for the UK has yet to be announced.
