Antonio Banderas took time out from shooting his latest film in Buenos Aires to jet up to LA for the premiere of Spy Kids 2 on Sunday night. And on the red carpet the handsome star was joined by his wife, actress Melanie Griffith, the film’s leading lady Carla Gugino and The Sixth Sense actor Haley Joel Osment.

But all eyes were on Antonio and Melanie, whose appearance together helped put to rest tabloid speculation that there is trouble brewing in the marriage.

Though the hunky Spaniard has likely grown accustomed to reading about himself in the papers during his ten-year Tinseltown career, he recently admitted to a Buenos Aires newspaper that he’s growing tiring of rumours that are published about him. And he goes a step further, saying he has a surprising plan for such inaccurate news reports – he’s collecting them “to publish in a book someday”.

Among the myths surrounding the Hollywood star are reports that he lost two fingers in Mexico while filming The Mask Of Zorro with Catherine Zeta-Jones, and had been detained at the border with a false passport.

“There is a minority of the press that insists on creating a character that has my name, that has my face, and moves around without me knowing about it,” he says. “I read about him as if I were reading about another person.”

Spy Kids 2 opens in the US August 7, and hits UK screens August 9.
