Hollywood’s all-American hero Harrison Ford and his girlfriend Calista Flockhart set the paparazzi into a frenzy on Sunday, when they arrived at the 59th Venice Film Festival. The Ally McBeal actress, svelte in a little black dress, seemed happy to do the media rounds as she and Harrison took a swift boat tour of the city, closely followed by speedboats loaded with photographers.
However, wild scenes ensued when she posed for the cameras with her famous beau on the dock of the Excelsior Hotel at Venice’s Lido: so many people closed in around the couple that Calista and Harrison were separated. The Indiana Jones star then became agitated and started to shout above the throng: “Calista! Calista! I’m over here!” They found each other eventually and were hustled into the hotel through a kitchen entrance. Harrison was in town to publicise his new film, K-19: The Widowmaker, which has its European premiere at the festival this week. He and Calista have been an item for more than six months but made their first public appearance together at the US premiere of K-19 in July.
