Girl, Interrupted star Angelina Jolie has taken her baby son home with her after the 13-month-old was released from a Liverpool hospital on Friday. Little Maddox Jolie, who was admitted to Alder Hey Hospital last week, was discharged after a three-day stay stemming from a mishap on his mum’s film set in Snowdonia, North Wales.

The baby was rushed by ambulance 90 miles to Alder Hey from the Tomb Raider II set on Tuesday after suffering what the hospital later described as a very minor injury. Though the 27-year-old actress, who was said to be distraught over the incident, did not release details of what happened, she did later extend her "sincere thanks" to the doctors for their care in looking after her son.

The Oscar winner adopted the Cambodian-born orphan earlier this year, just months before the breakdown of her marriage to her Pushing Tin co-star Billy Bob Thornton. Angelina recently gave the baby – who was called Rath Vibol in the orphanage – a new name, Maddox Chivan Thornton Jolie.

Tomb Raider II: The Cradle of Life, in which Lara Croft battles a Chinese crime syndicate, will also be filmed on location in Greece and Africa and is set for a summer, 2003 release.
