A representative for Nick Nolte revealed on Monday that the Prince Of Tides star has “voluntarily entered” into a substance abuse treatment centre. The 61-year-old Hollywood actor checked himself into the Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan Connecticut on September 14, three days after he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Nick, who has been open about his past heavy drinking and his decision more than a decade ago to go sober, has signed into the hospital to “receive advice and counselling that he feels he needs at this time”, said spokesman Paul Bloch.
The represenative did not disclose the length of treatment, saying only that the Affliction star, who failed a sobriety test the night he was arrested, would remain “as long as he feels it necessary”.
The two-time Oscar nominee, who was described by police as “drooling” and “completely out of it” on the night of his September 11 arrest in Malibu, California, has been free on $2,500 bail.
