Grease stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John are set to reunite for a sequel to the 1978 big screen musical – and now it’s been revealed that the newest member of the cast is Australian pop star Kylie Minogue.
The film is said to be a reunion of sorts, with the T-Birds and Pink Ladies meeting up again 20 years after graduating from Rydell High. John and Olivia are once again to portray bad boy Danny and his true love Sandy, this time as parents to an 18-year-old daughter, played by Kylie, according to Britain's Daily Express.
Movie bosses were reportedly so keen to cast the petite popstress in the teen role, they were willing to put aside the fact that she’s well into her 30s – and even passed over rising pop star Holly Valance, 19, to add the Fever star to the film’s roster.
The idea for Grease 3, which follows the little-seen 1982 sequel starring Michelle Pfeiffer, has been bounced around for years. The boys of ‘N Sync caused a stir in 2000 when they announced they would be starring in the famed musical’s third instalment with Britney Spears as a possible Pink Lady. However, the plan fell apart last year due to problems with potential scripts.
