With baby number two on the way, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are, like many other parents, looking for a larger property to house their growing family. Not all parents, though, would be able to seriously consider the six-bedroom Welsh mansion that has apparently caught their fancy.
The Tredean House estate would, in the words of its anonymous owner, “be ideal for a celebrity who wanted a bit of privacy from the public eye.” Standing in the lush countryside of South Wales, it boasts 27 acres of land, as many bathrooms as bedrooms, a tennis court and a heated pool, and is on the market for a reported £2.2 million.
The Hollywood power couple already own a £3 million pad in Bermuda, where several of Michael’s relatives, including his mother, have homes. They also share the use of a huge villa on Majorca with Michael’s ex-wife, Diandra. However, with Welsh-born Catherine determined to maintain close ties with her own family, a house in Wales where the clan can gather in safety and comfort has always been a priority.
Building their own would be one option, but perhaps a ready-made home – particularly with Christmas approaching – will suddenly look more attractive to the high-octane pair. If they do fancy Tredean House, they’ll be in good celebrity company – Sir Cliff Richard and Austin Powers actor Robert Wagner are reportedly also both taken with the plush property.
