Diana Darrid, mother of movie star Michael Douglas, is planning to marry for the third time on the idyllic island of Bermuda. The ceremony will take place in an 18th-century church in the town of Devonshire on December 28.
And, like her son, Diana, 79, has decided to remain young at heart by opting for a partner younger than herself. Her intended, Donald Albert Webster - a former treasury chief of staff under President Richard Nixon - is a 72-year-old widower.
Speaking from her home in Sherman Oaks, California, the actress and author explained that their first meeting was a low-key affair. The couple met each other at a Washington DC literary party to promote Darrid's memoirs, In The Wings, in 1999, and then got together again while Donald was visiting California. "It progressed from there bit by bit," she says.
Michael - who was recently reunited with his mother after a family feud - and his 33-year-old Welsh wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones plan to be on hand to watch Michael's mum tie the knot more than half a century after her divorce from his father Kirk.
