As a host of stars descended on the London premiere of the latest instalment of The Lord Of The Rings, it was hard to tell who set more flashbulbs popping: the film's dazzling designer-clad stars or the gorgeous guests who braved the cold in barely-there outfits.
Two Towers star Cate Blanchett, who plays Galadriel in the blockbuster film, was luminescent – and warm – in cream-coloured Versace, complete with coat and stiletto boots. Brunette beauty Liv Tyler, another co-star in the blockbuster, chose an elegant Stella McCartney trouser suit in basic black satin.
Among the invitees heating up the scene despite the freezing temperatures were Sophie Anderton, who sparkled in a backless mini dress, and Nell McAndrews, who lit up the red carpet in a gold super-short frock.
The glittering line-up of stars was met with cheers by the throngs of fans who gathered outside the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square. "I just couldn't believe the reception," said Liv. "It was just so wild. That's the most people I've ever heard screaming my name ever in my whole life."
"It's an amazing crowd," agreed Cate. "They must be freezing!"
