Former EastEnders star Paul Nicholls is apparently dating Hollywood actress Jennifer Love Hewitt after they met on the set of their new movie If Only.

According to press reports the pair have been seen hugging and kissing while taking walks through the Lake District hand-in-hand.

"Between takes they've been seen holding hands as they walk through the streets, and they don't seem to care who sees them," said one source close to the production.

The romance has not been confirmed by either party as yet, however, and it is likely that Jennifer would prefer to keep things private. She recently said she was "exhausted" by all the attention the US media was giving her love-life.

The 23-year-old actress plays a musician who falls in love with a British businessman, played by Nicholls, in the movie which is currently being filmed in Cumbria. With echoes of Gwyneth Paltrow's Sliding Doors, the pair get a chance to relive the fateful day on which one of them dies.

The US-funded film marks a more mainstream departure for Paul, who has won great critical acclaim for his work on movies like The Trench and Goodbye Charlie Bright. More recently he has been the toast of the National Theatre after six months playing the lead role in Vincent in Brixton, which tells the story of Van Gogh's early days in London.
