GUY'S 'REVOLVER' IN FIRING LINE OVER KABBALAH REFERENCES

Madonna's hubby Guy Ritchie has been forced to rewrite his latest film because it had too many references to Kabbalah. Guy and Madge are both devotees of the esoteric Jewish sect, but bosses at Sony were highly unimpressed when they found the script for Revolver was so influenced by its teachings.

"It made Sony very uncomfortable," said one studio executive. "Kabbalah is seen as a cult in some circles. No-one wants to be associated with it. Guy's agents told him to rewrite Revolver and maybe it would sell."

Apparently the Snatch director initially resisted the studio's demands, but when they threatened to pull the plug, he gave in. A few days later, however, the 35-year-old fired his agents and decided to scrap the movie altogether. "He felt he had to stay true to his Kabbalah beliefs," said a source at the studio. It remains unclear whether the production will go ahead in the wake of the row.

While the mystical teachings of Kabbalah are still viewed with suspicion in some circles, it has managed to attract a growing number of celebrity devotees. Demi Moore, Mick Jagger, Liz Taylor and Courtney Love have all been linked to it, while Madonna and Guy are both active members.
