George Clooney carefully stepped out for the National Board of Review Awards Gala on Tuesday night, arriving to the star-studded affair hobbling around on crutches.
The Confessions Of A Dangerous Minddirector, who tore an Achilles tendon while playing basketball, was on hand to pick up a special achievement award for his filmmaking efforts.
Best actress Julianne Moore – whose latest film, The Hours, took home best picture – was also in attendence, sharing the spotlight with celebrites such as George Lucas and Chicago's Richard Gere. On hand to present an award was the Pretty Woman actor's latest co-star, Renee Zellweger, who has reportedly rekindled a romance with old flame George.
A spokesperson for the former ER doc remained tight-lipped on the issue, insisting: "I have no idea. I'd never ask him who he goes out with." Renee's representative, meanwhile, was a bit more forthcoming, offering: "As far as I know, they're just best of friends."
Confirming that the two are simply buddies at the event, George also took the opportunity to clear up the rumour that he was offered a role alongside the blonde actress in the sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary. "I've never been talked to about that, ever," he says.
