Reports that Sadie Frost is suffering from severe post-natal depression have been confirmed after her publicist spoke out to quell press speculation about her health.
"She is getting help and she is trying to manage it," said Simon Halls. "It is a chemical thing and she has been feeling very blue. She was in a clinic in the US for a couple of days where she was diagnosed with post-natal depression."
Rumours that the 34-year-old had suffered a breakdown emerged after she was hospitalised in Los Angeles last week. When she returned to London alone on Sunday, there was even talk that her marriage to Jude Law was on the rocks.
The Road To Perdition star has flown home to be at her side, however, and has vowed to save their relationship. "This depression can be a serious thing," he said. "It has left Sadie feeling very sad and run down and she is just trying to get a handle on it. She has had so much on her plate recently and realises she needs help to catch her breath. Not only does she have to look after four children – including a baby – she also runs a successful business and has been overseeing the refurbishment of our new house."
Sadie is now recovering at London's Cromwell Hospital, which has also helped Stephen Fry and Michael Barrymore deal with emotional difficulties. Her publicist says she is already starting to feel better and is looking forward to working with her husband on the film World Of Tomorrow, due to go into production later this year.
