Nicole Kidman was greeted by thousands of adoring fans, and a handful of unwelcome questions, when she arrived for the London premiere of The Hours on Monday. The queries were about her rumoured relationship with Jude Law, but she insisted talk of a romance was false. Indeed the Australian star seized the opportunity to say she's on the lookout for a new beau.

There was widespread speculation that the actress and her Cold Mountain co-star were dating, after his marriage to Sadie Frost ran into difficulties. Asked whether she and Jude were an item, Nicole said: "No we're not. It's not true."

"I think we need to respect their privacy," she added. "It's not true but I don't think it's right for me to say anything more." The 35-year-old did admit that she's ready for a little romance, however. "There's no big love in my life at the moment," she said. "I would like to be swept off my feet again. I'm still completely open and I'm sure that one day my Prince Charming will come."

Dressed in an elegant off-the-shoulder black dress, Nicole said that she just wanted to "drink some wine and have a good time". She was joined at the premiere by co-stars Ed Harris, Miranda Richardson and director Stephen Daldry.
