Mr Bean is best known as the gormless nerd who bumbles through life causing one mishap after another. But it seems the mumbling bumpkin has been covering up some rather deft financial acumen.
For the man behind the geeky misfit has been officially named as Britain's richest TV star - comedian Rowan Atkinson is worth a whopping £60 million, it has been revealed.
His cringe-inspiring character has been sold to some 94 countries, netting £11 million for Rowan. And Mr Bean's moronic misadventures have also been made into an animated series and a feature film.
The 48-year-old performer's historical comedy series Blackadder meanwhile generated another £1 million for the star, while he made a similar figure from advertising deals.
And thanks to savvy investments in TV production companies like Tiger Aspect, which makes Mr Bean, Rowan has managed to generate a fortune that leaves most British TV stars in the shade.
Indeed his closest rival is Who Wants To Be A Millionaire presenter Chris Tarrant, with a relatively puny £20 million. Cilla Black comes in at third with £15 million while Frank Skinner's £14 million gives him fourth position. Other top names in the British TV rich list are Carol Vorderman (£12 million), Jonathan Ross (£11 million), Ian Wright (£10 million), Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan (£8.5 million), Graham Norton (£5 million) and Ulrika Johnson (£3 million).
