Russell Crowe's lavish wedding plans have hit a snag after authorities refused to grant the actor a temporary no-fly zone over his ranch near Sydney. The hunky Kiwi had been hoping to enjoy clear skies, free of both clouds and TV helicopters, on the big day.
It seems the powers that be in New South Wales don't believe a wedding warrants a ban on air travel, however, so the Gladiator star may have to put up with some uninvited, flying guests.
His nuptials to Aussie actress Danielle Spencer will go ahead on April 7, the day of his 39th birthday, regardless of any airborne onlookers. "It's one thing after another for Russell and Danielle," said a friend. "They really wanted a no-fly zone so they wouldn't be disturbed."
The preparations for the wedding have been on a scale worthy of one of the handsome star's epic movies. He has even built a new chapel for the event and is said to have bought 12 bucking bulls to keep guests entertained. The three-day romantic extravaganza will also include poetry readings, cricket matches and a series of lavish banquets.
