Sleepless In Seattle star Meg Ryan will be bringing her own inimitable charm to the jury of the Cannes film festival next month. The tousle-haired actress will be joined by director Steven Soderberg on the nine-member panel which judges the festival's main prize – the Palme d'Or.
The award is one of the most prestigious in the movie world. Last year it was scooped by Roman Polanski's The Pianist, which went on to win the best director gong at the Oscars.
Meg will also be joined on the panel by former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, who is the first Indian actress to be included on the Cannes jury. Other members include Italian writer Erri De Luca, Bosnian director Danis Tanovic, French actor Jean Rochefort and French director Patrice Chereu.
The festival opens on May 14 and sci-fi fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of The Matrix: Reloaded. While the special effects extravaganza is thought an unlikely contender for the main prize, protagonists Keanu Reeves and Monica Bellucci will be among the galaxy of stars attending the event.
