007 star Roger Moore was admitted to a New York hospital on Wednesday night after collapsing while performing on Broadway.

The 75-year-old actor was making a cameo appearance in the Kenneth Branagh-directed Morecambe and Wise tribute The Play What I Wrote, when he suddenly fell to the stage.

Witnesses say his co-stars Sean Foley and Hamish McColl immediately rushed to Roger's side, with Hamish asking: "Are you OK, old boy?". The former James Bond replied: "I think I've fainted, old boy."

While the audience thought the incident was all part of the act, the curtains were brought down. The actor later recovered his composure and was able to finish the play. However, as the performance came to a close, Roger was taken to an awaiting ambulance.

He is currently being treated for respiratory problems at a local hospital. "Our doctors are looking at him now and his condition is stable," said a spokesperson.
